Over the weekend I was on my way to hike Iron Mountain when I found out that my Godmother had passed away. I feel so fortunate to have had her in my life and equally fortunate to know the wonderful family she created. I have very fond memories of going to their house for the Fourth of July as a child. We'd color and play at the kids table in the garage and watch fireworks from their backyard, I swallowed a penny at their house. The one thing I have learned about loss in the last twelve months is that whether you know it is coming soon, or you're caught by complete surprise, the sadness you feel is the same. She is so loved and will be greatly missed.
The hike up Iron Mountain was pretty neat. The start was foggy, which kept us cool and all of the wildflowers are in bloom, which made for nice scenery on the way up. As we got to the top we broke through the fog and this is what we saw:
I'm so happy I went!
